N. K. Ashokbharan is an Attorney-at-Law with extensive experience in the fields of Constitution and Administrative Law, Construction Law, and Commercial Law. His practice includes advisory work, dispute resolution, and appearances in litigation and arbitration proceedings involving both domestic and international matters.
He has advised on a range of commercial and infrastructure projects, with particular focus on construction related claims, contract interpretation, dispute adjudication, and arbitration. His experience includes matters governed by both local legislation, domestic standards such as CIDA SBDs, and international standards such as FIDIC, and he has engaged in dispute resolution proceedings under institutional and ad hoc arbitral rules.
In the area of Constitutional and Administrative Law, Mr. Ashokbharan has appeared in writ/judicial review proceedings, fundamental rights application, constitutional applications, and regulatory matters before the Superior Courts. His work often involves the interface between public decision making and commercial or individual rights.
His broader areas of practice include contracts and agreements, employment and labour law, company law, media and technology law, as well as civil and commercial appellate work.
Mr. Ashokbharan has also contributed to legal scholarship. He was a co-author of the Sri Lanka chapter in the Global Review of Constitutional Law (2018 and 2019 editions) and served as Coordinating Editor for the Roman-Dutch Law section of the 27th volume of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka Law Journal.
